Here comes another Betty Crocker recipe! Let me say that this is not my favorite recipe. Nor is it one I would choose for dinner. My husband made this because he loves beef stroganoff. I tend to shy away from these kinds of dishes. Just not my taste. However, you may really enjoy this. It's a slow cooker recipe so it's easy and also a bit different than the usual stroganoff recipe. I did have a plate of this for dinner and it was fine. I didn't push it away from me and in fact ate the whole plateful of food! I did have a hard time finding the Cream of Onion soup however. I don't know why but every grocery store in this area had every other kind of cream soup but this one. Would you believe I finally found it at Target of all places!!! If you have a hard time finding it like I did, you can substitute cream of celery for the onion instead. Enjoy!!
2 pounds beef stew meat
1 cup chopped onion
1 can (10 3/4 ounces) condensed cream of golden mushroom soup
1 can (10 3/4 ounces) cream of onion soup
1 jar (6 ounces) sliced mushrooms, drained
1/4 tsp pepper
1 package (8 ounces) cream cheese, cubed
1 container (8 ounces) sour cream
6 cups hot cooked noodles or rice (we had noodles with this)
In 3 1/2 to 4 1/2-quart slow cooker, mix beef, onion, soups, mushrooms and pepper.
Cover and cook on low heat setting 8 to 10 hours or until beef is very tender.
Stir cream cheese into beef mixture until melted. Stir sour cream into beef mixture. Serve over noodles.

I think Chris has the same thoughts on beef stroganoff as you do! I have grown to love it as I have gotten older - or maybe as I've gotten older I've had better beef strognaoffs! :)
This looks like something I would definitely like. Pretty much anything with cream cheese and sour cream is guaranteed to be a hit with me. :)
I haven't had this in forever!

I haven't had stroganoff since I was a kid. This slow cooker version looks like just the way to give it a try again!
What delicious comfort food! I love that this is a crockpot meal.
